Description

The Costa Maya offers many treasures to be discovered, among them is this ChacchobenIts name, translated into Spanish, alludes to the colored corn found in this region, which was one of the most important products cultivated by the Mayas.

It is the largest and most visited archaeological site on the Mayan coast. Here, its moss-covered temples sprout from a lush jungle where you will be amazed by its history and the collapse of the ancient civilization. Chacchoben was a very rich area, precious objects such as jade and obsidian have been found.

One of the first structures that can be observed is temple 24, a large stepped temple that reveals, by its architectural details, a probable relationship with other Mayan cities. You can also see its tombs, the temple of the vessels, a large foundation, an important structure for religious rituals. Archaeologists believe that there was a statue or stele in these places and that it was illuminated by the sun's rays.

When visiting the archaeological site you can enjoy the surrounding landscape, with the presence of sapote and fig trees, white cedars and mahogany trees, a beautiful combination that results in a unique landscape. Our guide will accompany you to the main attractions of this beautiful destination that will take you on a journey through time with his narrations about its amazing history.
